Remember those times when you sat in front of your record
player playing your favorite records, again, and again, and again? Fast forward
to your first car, road trips and playing those 8-tracks over, and over, and
over? And then there were the cassette tapes and now mp3s… There were always
those songs that you could never hear enough of…
Roger McNamee (Moonalice,
Doobie Decibel System and solo artist) writes
those kinds of songs. Songs that have you hitting “replay” because they reach
in and squeeze your heart – because you know that there’s a back story.
Songs like “I’m Glad You Think So,”
about relationships that get out of balance, or “Nick Of Time,” which is a
letter of support to a friend struggling with life changes, or “Angle Of Repose” written
in memory of a dear friend that passed too soon.
Roger’s songs reflect his very positive outlook on life –
and his desire to make the world a better and a happier place for his fans –
even if it is only for the duration of a show. As he describes in this interview,
“I was raised by parents who taught me to try and make a positive impact on the
world. I’m a dyed-in-the-wool hippie who
happened to get really lucky, okay, and I just try and share that good fortune
with everyone I meet.”
On November 15 Roger joins Pat Nevins (Shakey Zimmerman),
Jordan Feinstein, and San Francisco singer-songwriter Paige Clem for a highly-intimate song-sharing session.
As part of her third Bazaar Café
Songwriters Residency, every Tuesday in the month of November, Paige is leading
legendary local songwriters “in the round” as they perform original music in an
unplugged, acoustic setting. All ages and no cover charge!
Good news for fans in the Bay area that can attend this show,
is that as Roger describes it, “I will be including some songs I don't play as
often as I would like.” My fingers are crossed for “I’m Glad You Think So” – a personal
favorite since the very first time I played it!
